Beaches, culture, Spanish-language immersion, and a university with a strong international reputation await you when you study abroad in Barcelona! Summer at UAB lets you earn 6 credits in 6 weeks while living in one of Europe’s most cosmopolitan cities.

Spend a summer studying abroad in Spain studying at an internationally renowned university in the cultural hub of Mediterranean Europe. On Summer at Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona, you can soak up all that Barcelona has to offer both inside and outside the classroom. You’ll experience:

The most pristine white-sand beaches in Western Europe – Barcelona enjoys a Mediterranean climate with mild winters and hot summers. It’s always the perfect time of year for a visit to the beach! Barcelona’s beaches and boardwalks, a stone’s throw from your front door, are a main attraction in the city.

Life in the cultural capital of the Mediterranean – Barcelona is home to more UNESCO World Heritage sites than any other city in Europe. You will witness 2,000 years of architectural and cultural splendor. The numerous museums, churches, cathedrals, and concert halls, the modern art of Joan Miro and Pablo Picasso, and the influential architecture of Antonio Gaudi and Mies van der Rohe make Barcelona an aesthetically appealing destination for visitors from all over the world.

World-class academics at one of the strongest universities in Western Europe – You will spend your summer studying at the newest, most modern branch of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.

Study Spanish in Barcelona - the campus is located in an affluent financial and educational district in northern Barcelona. Accommodations that suit your style – Summer at the UAB allows you to live with a Spanish family or share an apartment with other international students.

As part of Summer at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, you will have an extensive orientation and tour of the city. You will also have a weekend excursion included in the program package. Possible weekend trips include beautiful Costa Brava, Valencia, magical Granada, or majestic Madrid, among others.


During your summer at the Universitat Autónoma de Barceloa, you can choose between living in an apartment or in a homestay.

The fully-furnished apartments are located about 25 minutes away from the campus. You will share a room with one other student, and a total of six students will live in each apartment. Included is a shared living room, a well-equipped kitchen, and bathrooms. Living in the heart of Barcelona, you’ll have endless options of things to do and see right outside your door!

If you choose a homestay, you’ll get to to become completely immersed in Spanish culture. You will live with a Spanish family, older person, or young professional, and share a room with one other student. You’ll have access to bed linens, a shared bathroom, and a communal living space and kitchen. Your host family will provide breakfast, dinner, and a weekly laundry service. Your study abroad experience will be even more enhanced by getting to know life in Barcelona this way!


Courses include art history, cultural studies, international business, politics, and Spanish language.
