On Semester in Edinburgh, you’ll have easy access to all Edinburgh has to offer while studying at Edinburgh Napier University, located in the heart of the old city. The city of Edinburgh is truly amazing, combining medieval Old Town, neoclassical New Town, and award-winning modern architecture. Here, you’ll experience:

History and modernity all in one – Imagine taking classes in 500-year-old buildings in the morning and state-of-the-art facilities in the afternoon.

A top-ranked new UK University – “Only” 40 years old (young by European standards), Edinburgh Napier University was ranked one of the top 2 new universities in the UK!

Vast course selections – With courses ranging across hard sciences, health sciences, engineering, business, and more, you’ll reap the benefits of studying in one of Scotland’s largest universities.

There are many reasons to study abroad in Scotland on our Semester in Edinburgh program, but here are a few of the key highlights that make this program unique.

  • Centrally located in one of the most beautiful cities in Europe.
  • Stunning campuses with buildings dating from the 16th to the 21st centuries.
  • Mid-size student body, with international students from over 100 countries
  • Diversity of courses offered in Health, Life and Social Sciences, Engineering, Computing and Creative Industries, and the Business School.
  • Single room in a shared flat.
  • Kitchen facilities in all housing, so you can cook for yourself—which means more money for travel.
  • Vibrant campus life with numerous sports, club, and volunteer opportunities.
  • Travel, travel, travel! Edinburgh is centrally located in the UK, with air, train, and bus travel close at hand.

During orientation you will go on a guided tour of beautiful Edinburgh. Also, during the semester you can take a Scottish culture and society course that will introduce you to this amazing culture through lectures and organized excursions. Please note that some of these excursions require an additional fee. Organized excursions are available, at discounted prices, through the Napier Student Union.

Our Site Director will also send updates to our students through email and messages on Facebook to keep you up-to-date on events around the country that you can attend in your free time.

Semester in Edinburgh offers a range of University-owned housing in the center of the city and within easy reach of the campus. From your ”flat,” you can easily reach shops, restaurants, cafés, bars, cinemas, and sports facilities. You’ll share your flat and its kitchen, living room, and bathroom with 4 to 6 other students, but you will have your own bedroom.

All University-owned flats have standard kitchen appliances (including microwaves). Upon arrival you will be issued a "bedding pack"—linens and a pillow. Dishes, pots and pans, and cutlery can be purchased at low cost at nearby stores. All flats have broadband internet access, at an additional cost.

Course subjects include business, cultural studies, economics, engineering, event management and hospitality, marketing, sciences, social sciences, among others.

Past Students

“Ever since I was little I have had an obsession with Scotland's history and culture, so when I saw there was a program to go to Scotland I jumped on it. Our flat in Edinburgh was extremely nice, and was 10 minutes from campus.”
