Spend a semester learning from some of the best faculty when you study abroad in Barcelona. On The Barcelona Semester you’ll soak up all that this cultural hub of the Mediterranean has to offer both inside and outside the classroom. Start getting excited about:

The most pristine white-sand beaches in Western Europe – Barcelona enjoys a Mediterranean climate with mild winters and hot summers. Any time of the year is perfect for a visit to the beach!

Life in the cultural capital of the Mediterranean – Barcelona is home to more World Heritage sites than any other city in Europe. You will witness 2,000 years of architectural and cultural splendor. The numerous museums, churches, cathedrals, concert halls, the modern art of Joan Miró, Pablo Picasso, and the influential architecture of Antoni Gaudí and Mies van der Rohe make Barcelona an aesthetically appealing destination for visitors from all over the world.

Quality academics taught in English and Spanish – Electives are taught mostly in English, but we encourage you to take intensive Spanish-language classes. Study Spanish abroad in Barcelona: this program is perfect for anyone, because the Spanish-language classes are offered for speakers of all levels and are tailored to meet your needs.

The city of Barcelona – The café culture, boutique shops, tapas restaurants, and world-famous nightlife are enough to keep you busy for a semester or a year while you study abroad in Spain.

Cultural activities and excursions are included – We will take you to a Catalan cooking class, a flamenco show, and the Spanish cinema. The program also includes two weekends trip in Spain. Possible trips: beautiful Costa Brava, magical Granada, or majestic Madrid so you'll have a full study abroad in Spain experience.

As part of Semester at Barcelona International College, you will take part in an extensive orientation and a tour of the city. You can also participate in weekend excursions in Spain. Possible weekend trips include beautiful Zaragoza, magical Granada, or majestic Madrid. Also included are excursions within Barcelona itself, through which you will fully immerse yourself in your new home. Additionally, you can take day trips to Tarragona and Girona, where you can visit the incredible Dali Museum. You will also be able to participate in an optional excursion to Morocco for an additional cost.


You can choose to live either in a shared apartment or in a homestay during the Barcelona Semester program.

The apartments, located about 25 minutes from campus in the heart of the city, are fully-furnished and have access to a shared living room, a well-equipped kitchen, and bathrooms. You’ll share a room with one other student, and have a total of six students in each apartment. The convenient location means you’ll have easy access to everything Barcelona has to offer, like shops, cafés, bars, museums, restaurants, and more!

A homestay is the perfect way to fully immerse yourself in Spanish culture. You’ll share a room with one other student in a house with either a Spanish family, older person, or young professional who is looking to rent out an extra room, and will enjoy access to a shared bathroom, living space, and kitchen. Laundry service, breakfast, and dinner are also provided. You’ll love the unique experience of this living situation in Spain!
