During this multi-cultural study abroad program you will get your fill of fantastic literature, international studies, film courses, and great excursions for the full British experience.
Summer in the British Isles is perfect for first-time international travelers, culture, literature, and film buffs, and anyone who wants to earn almost a semester of credits while exploring historic locations. With this study-travel course, you’ll receive 9 credits while visiting incredible settings. Get excited about:
Travel throughout Ireland and Scotland – During the first two weeks of the program, you'll visit historic locations in Ireland. You will see the majestic Cliffs of Moher, tour Dublin, and more; AND you get to stop in Scotland too.
True British experience at a local university – For the last 4 weeks, you’ll study at the beautiful Roehampton University and live with local British students in the residence halls. In your classes you'll also experience the delights of London in-depth. It’s an authentic taste of English culture.
Faculty-led – This summer study abroad program is led by faculty from Jacksonville University.

Take fun courses on England and Ireland – You’ll be more than a tourist. With classes in literature, film, international studies, history, and culture, you’ll be studying fascinating aspects of modern Britain in a hands-on learning environment.
Since the Summer in the British Isles: Ireland, Scotland, and England program is a true travel/study course, a great deal of your academics will be mixed with trips around the various locations in which you will be studying. In Ireland, you'll visit the major cities like Dublin, Galway, and Belfast as well as the delightful countryside treasures that fill the country. You'll then take a quick trip through Scotland before heading to London for the next portion of the program. Your London classes will include many excursions in and around the city as part of your program. It’s like one big excursion!

For the first two weeks of the Summer in the British Isles program, you will be traveling throughout Ireland and Scotland so you will be staying in double rooms at hotels or hotels throughout the country. At most hotels, breakfast will be provided but all other meals will be your responsibility.
While you're studying in London you will live in one of Roehampton's University's residence halls. Each hall is its own social hub. This way, you can have all of the luxuries of a traditional campus environment while enjoying a small, tight-knit community that makes it easy to get to know your British and international classmates. The residence halls offer self-catered single-occupancy accommodation with shared kitchen facilities, furnished rooms, and comfortable lounges. Many halls are near cafeterias, coffee and snack bars, and shops.
