New Zealand is an island country in the southwestern Pacific Ocean comprising two main landmasses (the North Island and the South Island) and numerous smaller islands. From the sub-tropical far north, to the frequently cold far south, New Zealand is a land of dramatic landscape including snow-capped mountains, forests, rivers and lakes, and endless stretches of coastline dissected by magnificent harbors and beaches. The Maori people who first colonized this area developed a rich and distinctive culture, which still flourishes today.
Students and interns enjoy making friends with native New Zealanders, who are commonly referred to as "Kiwis." The modern urban amenities, nightlife, and transportation systems of Wellington and other major cities throughout New Zealand create an ideal environment for students and interns to travel, meet new people, and complete a semester or internship abroad.
